As promised, there are some parts i will add to the story. this below is the Tom's letter to Mary after he got rejected. unwilling to accept the truth, he writes this to Mary before calling her.
may it be my cowardice, tell me and i shall change

may it be bad timing, tell me so that i have something to wait for
may it be that the feeling has faded, tell me and i will back off
may it be that you are mistaken, tell me and i shall explain it to you
may it be family problems, tell me so that i can at least share
may it be studies, tell me and i can help
may it be that you don't want to ruin my future, tell me and i will assure you that you are not
may it be other people's sarcasm, tell me and i will fend it off
may it be your inferiority, tell me so that i assure you are the best
may it be any other secret problems, tell me and i may understand

if you dun tell me, and suddenly do this to me, how can you expect me to forget it so easily?
i am afterall human, with flesh, blood and bones
with feelings, emotions, and logic
